Dealing with subjects ranging from 9/11 to the War in Afghanistan to 7/7 and the killing of Jean Charles Menenez, from the Yugoslav Civil Wars of the early 1990s to the 2011 Egyptian Revolution in Tahrir Square, from Home Office immigration crackdowns to domestic terrorist attacks, from the radical frontlines of community self-defence to the corridors of power, Rajesh Thind’s films are driven by an intention to seek a human scale to the grand historical forces swirling around us.
In this highly interactive workshop, Rajesh will share some of the creative methods and conceptual frameworks he brings to making work which speaks to the contemporary world in meaningful and insightful ways. How can we ride waves in the middle of tempestuous storms?
Topics covered will include: Trust, Power, Process, Being in Relationship with Subjects and Audiences, Developing Your Own Ideas, Strategising for Commissioning, Self-Care and Duty of Care.
There will be time to workshop attendees' future projects, so please feel free to discuss what you’ve got cooking in your pot.
